Blue Marlin vs Tropical Suites: Which Bocas Town Waterfront Stay Is Better Value?
Updated octobre 2026

Blue Marlin's measured median is $154 a night; Tropical Suites is $267 — $113, or 42%, less, which is $791 less for seven nights. Blue Marlin is rated 8.8 from 50 reviews and Tropical Suites 8.7 from 525; we run Blue Marlin.
The comparison is not close on price. It is closer on what you get: Blue Marlin is the over-water room, Tropical Suites is the full-service hotel with a pool and restaurant. Both are in Bocas Town, so the location trade-off is small.
1.Price and rating, measured
Both stays are in Bocas Town and both figures come from the same Agoda snapshot: 119 stays, 181 nights, collected 18 October 2026, before taxes and fees. The median is the middle nightly rate, not the cheapest one-off price.
| Stay | Median night | Lowest–highest night | Rating (reviews) | Area |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Marlin | $154 | $89–$337 | 8.8 (50) | Bocas Town |
| Tropical Suites | $267 | $88–$1,097 | 8.7 (525) | Bocas Town |
2.Rooms and amenities
These are the differences that change a stay, not a full facilities list. “Not stated” means the feature was not stated in the source we checked — it is not a claim that the feature is missing.
| Feature | Blue Marlin | Tropical Suites |
|---|---|---|
| Over the water | Yes | No |
| Sea view | Yes | Not stated |
| Pool | No | Yes |
| Restaurant | No | Yes |
| Kitchen | Yes (shared) | Yes (full) |
| AC | Yes | Not stated |
| Minimum check-in age | Not stated | 18 (children 10+) |
3.Who should choose Blue Marlin

Choose Blue Marlin if you want to sleep over the water in Bocas Town and pay 42% less than Tropical Suites on the measured median. Every room has AC, a private bathroom and sea views; the house has a shared kitchen, a common lounge and an over-water terrace. There is no pool and no restaurant on site.
Blue Marlin is the best over-water stay in Bocas Town. Our other three cover the other trip types: Casa Pelicano for kitchens and longer stays, Bocasso for groups and families, and Boho Pelicano for a budget boutique.
The trade-off is review volume: 50 Agoda reviews against 525, so the 8.8 rating has a wider margin of error, and there are no resort facilities.
4.Who should choose Tropical Suites
Choose Tropical Suites if a pool, an on-site restaurant and a full kitchen in the suite matter more than the over-water position or the price. It is a waterfront boutique hotel on 1st Street, next to the main water-taxi terminal, with a seafront pool, Merén Restaurante & Pool Club, suites with balconies, full kitchens and jacuzzi baths, and 525 Agoda reviews. Check-in is 3pm, the minimum check-in age is 18, children 10+ are welcome, and 10% tax is extra.
The trade-off is price: the measured median is $267, $113 more than Blue Marlin, and the highest measured night is $1,097.
5.Verdict
Blue Marlin is the better choice for an over-water stay and the lower bill; Tropical Suites is the better choice for a pool, restaurant and full suite. On the points that decide most trips — price and sleeping over the water — Blue Marlin wins; on facilities and review volume, Tropical Suites wins.
6.How we compared
Both prices come from the same Agoda snapshot: 119 stays and 181 nights, collected 18 October 2026, before taxes and fees. We compare medians rather than the cheapest one-off rate, because a median is less sensitive to a single sold-out weekend.
Tropical Suites facts come from its own site: the hotel overview, the amenities page and the hotel policies. Blue Marlin facts come from our property data. Where a feature is not stated in a source, the table says “Not stated” rather than guessing.
A lower median is not the same as a better stay. Pick the trade-off you will actually use: over-water rooms and a smaller bill at Blue Marlin, or a pool, restaurant and full suite at Tropical Suites.
